“About 10 years ago we had several intense discussions about how to calibrate PROBA-V after launch. One of our suggestions was to make optimal use of the agility of the platform such as making platform rotations during night to observe the very stable lunar surface and performing yaw flips. The engineers were quite skeptical about the idea, mainly because they were concerned about possible adverse effects of such a maneuver. But finally they were convinced. Now 10 years later these maneuvers are successfully performed on a regular basis and we will keep on scheduling these maneuvers after the operational phase for scientific experiments.”
